EQV Advisory Welcomes John Wierman as Associate Relationship Manager
Hire comes as the Raleigh, North Carolina based RIA continues its period of rapid growth
RALEIGH, NC — EQV Advisory, a founder-led, employee-owned Registered Investment Advisor, recently announced the hiring of John Wierman as its first Associate Relationship Manager. The appointment comes as EQV Advisory continues its rapid growth trajectory, having grown assets under management by several hundred million dollars since its public launch this January.
“We are thrilled to have John join us,” said Rob Ragsdale, CEO at EQV Advisory. “At this stage of our growth, we need athletes with a variety of skill sets. John’s background as a high-achieving collegiate soccer player, investment banker, and graduate student with experience in the private wealth space and our geography in particular is an exceptional combination.”
In this new role, Wierman will serve as a day-to-day point of contact for several of the firm's key client families, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of each family's financial picture and ensuring that planning, investments, and follow-through remain fully coordinated.
“Two things stood out immediately: the model and the people,” Wierman said of his decision to join EQV. “EQV was deliberately built as a firm where investing and planning work together as one coordinated effort, and where the team is small enough that clients work directly with the people responsible for their advice. Getting to learn every day from a team with this depth of experience was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.”
Wierman graduated from Davidson College where he was a member of the men’s soccer team. He began his career at Wells Fargo in its Investment Banking group, where he developed a rigorous, detail-oriented approach to complex transactions under tight deadlines. Subsequent to attaining his M.B.A. from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler business school, he later went on to Goldman Sachs where he advised high-net-worth clients in an environment which sharpened both his technical expertise and his commitment to genuine client care.
“I sit comfortably at the intersection of the analytical and the personal,” Wierman said. “I enjoy the detailed work of balance sheets, entity structures, and portfolio analysis, but I never lose sight of the fact that behind every account is a family with real goals and concerns.”
Wierman describes his approach to client service simply: own everything, assume nothing, and follow through. “Clients shouldn't have to wonder where something stands,” he said. “My job is to make sure the details are handled before they think to ask. I also believe great service starts with truly knowing the client: their goals, their family, and what keeps them up at night.” That philosophy, he says, is closely aligned with EQV's own approach. “I believe clients are best served when investing and planning work together, delivered by people they can reach directly and who know their full picture. That is exactly how EQV was built.”
Wierman is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Mia, and their dog, Mags, cheering on the UNC Tar Heels and Davidson Wildcats.
